Daily Practices for a Healthy Mindset: How I Stay Grounded as a Busy Mom

Written by a pelvic floor physical therapist at Empower Your Pelvis, in Kansas City, Missouri (Lee Summit, MO and Overland Park, KS)

Hi there! It's me again—your pelvic-health enthusiast and mom of three high-energy boys.

To keep my sanity in check amidst the chaos at home, I’ve recently reintroduced two essential practices into my routine as I’m finally getting a bit more sleep (though, let's be honest, I'm still up 2-3 times a night—any other moms relate?). After welcoming our newest little one, I found myself stuck in a negative mindset, and I knew I had to make some changes.

For me, staying positive requires two key habits: daily exercise and gratitude journaling. I make it a point to move my body for at least 20-30 minutes each day and jot down my thoughts in a gratitude journal. These small actions help shift my mindset and allow me to approach the day—and my boys—with a more positive outlook.

The human body never ceases to amaze me, especially how it heals and evolves over time. It’s truly mind-blowing.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or stressed, whether it's from the holiday rush or daily life, I invite you to try my practice. It’s made a world of difference for me, and I hope it can do the same for you.

I hope incorporating gratitude into your daily routine brings positivity and balance to your life, just as it has to mine!
